Description

Fjordin Crossin is a fun family event that celebrates the old Linie Aquavit tradition of sending a barrel of Aquavit in a ship from Norway across the Equator and back. The Hardware Distillery pays homage to that spirit by sending a barrel of its dill Aquavit across the Hood Canal, (our Fjord), with a festive Hoodsport celebration. From children's activities, a parade lead by the Sons & Daughters of Norway, a Paddle the Canal Challenge to authentic roasted pig and other Scandinavian vendors - you will want to spend all day in Hoodsport!

Ready to compete in the PADDLE THE CANAL CHALLENGE, where non-motorized vessels cross the Canal aka "Fjord" in a timed race for prizes and your well earned event cup and bandana?

YES your registration includes an event cup and logo'd bandana to wear during the race! We will also have a water table, sliced oranges, medals and prizes at various levels for crossing the Fjord. It will be a timed race, however most make it a leisurely activity to celebrate Father's Day, spend time together with friends or to be captivated by nature.

YES this is a family-friendly event, but parents/guardians must register, complete and sign the waiver for kids under 18. Children under 9 years old are FREE. Dressing up in Scandinavian theme and teams are encouraged. Tie your bandana to your paddle, neck, head, wherever!

YES you will be crossing the Fjord but not quite ALL the way over due to personal properties, safety and time constraints. Enjoy being a part of an old Nordic tradition, where Aquavit was transported across the equator to the West Indies. Replace the West Indies with Hoodsport to follow our local designated vessel (TBA) instead! Paddlers are asked to use the YSS Dive boats as your guide and reference of where to turn around.

YES you can bring your own kayak, SUP, canoe or whatever non-motorized vessel you choose to cross the Fjord. Conveniently we will have an offloading station right at the Port of Hoodsport with volunteers helping you safely load/unload before finding parking. Parking is not available at the Port of Hoodsport.

YES you can rent kayaks from Hood Canal Adventures (allow at least 3 hours). They will be on site, but with limited inventory. It is best to call in advance to reserve your kayak (single or double). PH: (360) 301-6310 - Christina

YES this event is run by volunteers and we always do our best to make it extremely fun and well organized for ALL. We appreciate the help from YSS Dive and Captain Lee Geist to ensure everyone's SAFETY is a priority. Your registration $$ not only pays for administrative costs and coordination, but also supports our success for years to come. We thank you in advance!

After you sign up, you will be hearing from Kerry London Myers via email regarding more info re: logistics, parking, itinerary, etc so that you are an informed competitor! Feel free to reach out any time with questions - we want to make sure you are prepared to have FUN!
