The Southern Ohio Canine Search and Rescue Team is a 501(c)3 (EIN 87-1050078) all volunteer organization who is dedicated to helping locate those who have become lost and or missing. Our team is comprised of 6 K9 Handlers, 10 K9s and 3 Field Support members.
SOCS is not funded by public tax dollars and therefore does not receive any funding from a governmental agency. SOCS is funded by donations, grants and fundraisers.
Our team has been called upon 37 searches since our inception in 2021. Of these 37 requests for service, the Southern Ohio Canine Search and Rescue Team has conducted 27 real-world search operations. The other 10 calls that SOCS was requested to respond resulted in cancellations by the requesting agency.
In order to fulfill our mission, SOCS needs a variety of items such as equipment for training of K9s, Handlers and Field Support personnel.
At this point in time, we are in dire need of communications equipment that would help our team members while conducting search and rescue operations as well as during training. These radios would allow our team members to communicate effectively with other teams, the incident command post as well as with other Law Enforcement and Fire/EMS agencies.
