Working Together to End Hunger

Though $10 of your registration fee will go to the Northeast Iowa Food Bank you can donate additional funds here!

Right now, one in six people in Northeast Iowa don’t have enough to eat.  When supporting the food bank you help provide food and hope to hungry children, families and seniors right here in our community. Together, we can fight hunger in Northeast Iowa.

The Northeast Iowa Food Bank (NEIFB) gathers and sources nourishing food through individual and retail donations, food drives, and wholesale purchases for our neighbors while addressing the root causes of hunger.

The NEIFB distributes nutritious food and grocery products to 153 nonprofit organizations and programs that help families and individuals with food assistance.

Counties served: Allamakee, Black Hawk, Bremer, Buchanan, Butler, Chickasaw, Clayton, Delaware, Fayette, Floyd, Grundy, Howard, Mitchell, Poweshiek, Tama, Winneshiek

Last year, the NEIFB distributed more than 6.63 Million Meals within a 16 county service area.  Through their vast network of over 150 partners, they have been able to distribute more food to our neighbors in need.  These partnership within this network ensures the food insecurity strategies are both holistic and actionable throughout our urban and rural communities.  The following is a breakdown of impacts from these programs:

Feeding Children - 270K Meals
Elderly Nutrition - 160K Meals
Agency Distribution - 2.4M Meals
Food Pantry Meals - 2.7M Meals

Food insecurity can have a wide impact, depending on someone's circumstances. Here are just some examples of the effects of food insecurity:

Food insecurity can cause serious health issues when people have to choose between spending money on food and medicine or healthcare
Food insecurity can make it more difficult for a child to learn and grow
Food insecurity can lead to difficult decisions like choosing between food and rent, bills, and transportation
