Description
The ALS Association's Golden West Chapter is sponsoring our fourth annual 5K run in Golden Gate Park in memory of Jim Tracy, the inspirational track coach at San Francisco University High School who lost his courageous battle with ALS in early 2014. Jim touched countless runners' lives during his remarkable coaching career, which spanned two decades and 40 seasons. His dedication to the students' success helped the UHS team win 10 state cross country titles in 19 seasons and four straight California Division V titles from 2009-2012. Jim instilled a life-long love of running in countless high school students. Our event hopes to bring together people who were inspired by his story, alumni runners at UHS who were touched by his leadership, people who are interested in supporting the ALS Association, and Bay Area locals who have a passion for running.
All of the proceeds of the race will be donated to the ALS Association. The ALS Association is dedicated to discovering treatments and a cure for ALS, and to serve, advocate for, and empower people affected by ALS to live their lives to the fullest.
